Description

Abbotsbury is a picture-postcard village steeped in history and surrounded by spectacular scenery. It is a destination not to be missed off anyone’s West Dorset itinerary. Our journey, however, starts in another delightful village, one referred to as ‘thankful’ as it suffered no losses in either World War. Very soon after there will be sweeping views on all sides as we make our way towards the outskirts of Abbotsbury itself.

The village has much to offer a visitor and there’ll be enough time to indulge yourself in one of its many traditional tea rooms. For those seeking spectacular views, it's a short climb up from the village to the famous 14th century St Catherine’s Chapel to enjoy the awe-inspiring panorama over Chesil Beach, the Fleet lagoon and Lyme Bay. We then take a leisurely journey back to our start point and hope the local pub is open for a cheeky half!
